Beverly and Vidal together had 5 children - Elan, David, Eden and Catya. Her granddaughter London was named after her grandpa's place of birth. She lives in Beverly Hills where she shares her home with two cats, a lynx point named Avalon, and an Abyssinian named Philly. Philly is half-brother to the cats of her friend, composer Carol Connors. Beverly is an avid animal lover. She always had animals, and while her children were growing up, she always had all kind of pets at home. She feels that "there is always room for another cat". Beverly's new product line was developed because of her cat's problems with hot spots. When shopping around for shampoos to use on the pets, she found out that most pet shampoos are toxic. Beverly wanted to create something new, so you would not have to worry if your pets licked themselves, a product totally non-toxic, made with the highest-grade cosmetic ingredients, and living up to the Sassoon guarantee of excellence. Beverly recently launched this product on QVC and is expected to appear there at least once a month. She recently also premiered it on QVC in London, to the European market. Beverly also takes an active role in various charities. For the past nine years she has been the national spokesperson for the United Scleroderma Foundation, she has sat on the board of the Santa Monica Rape Treatment Center for over 10 years, and has also been involved with fundraising for several drug and alcohol rehabilitation programs. |
Beverly's cat Philly was named after the city in which the cat was going to be residing at that time. Beverly was living at the time in Philadelphia, so she called a breeder in California, met it at the airport, and fell in love. Beverly admits she loves her pets terribly. "I once had to relocate to Mexico for a year, and I had my parents take the cats. It was terrible, I'd call and say, 'How are the kitties?'" Both Philly and Beverly recently were made up with Harry Winston jewelry for a photo shoot for a book being written on Beverly Hills and its residents. "We are more the LA casual type. We regularly don't run around with jewels around our neck. We are very relaxed people".
Ms. Sassoon hopes that her pet line will soon extend itself to other aspects of pet beauty. She aspires to producing top-of-the-line quality pet products for the pet owning world. For those of us who want to pamper our pooches and kitties, Beverly's system will do the job. Beverly may no longer be married to Vidal Sassoon, but she has made a name for herself on her own. She's a mother, grandmother, entrepreneur, actress, author, spokesperson, and former corporate executive, but to top it all off, she is a pet lover. As she puts it, "Pets still put a smile on your face". After such an arduous life, Beverly's smile proves it. | |
