Imitation of Nature in Time Lapse
Introduction: My Story and the History of Optimal Life

Health and New Beginnings
My early life was a struggle with poor health. Born as a refugee during World War II, I was ill and undernourished: throughout childhood my immune system was very weak. At the age of four, measles left me with a severe case of nearsightedness (15 diatribes), which was only 50% correctible through glasses or contact lenses. Ten years ago my vision became worse. The diagnosis of doctors in both Germany and the US ( Bascom Palmer Eye Institute, Miami ) was that of untreatable shrinking optical nerves. They suggested that I learn Braille.

A year later, in 1991, I attended a scientific convention in Russia, where some new developments, as yet unknown in western countries, were presented. I sponsored some of the scientists and their translators to come to Germany to further their career and on one occasion, a translator introduced me to Professor Vladimir Nasarov, one of the leading sports and biomechanical scientists in the former Soviet Union. He was the first to describe the BMS method. Together we decided to promote his knowledge, the theory of BMS and the BMS machines to western countries. The first demonstration of BMS in Germany took place at the University of Goettingen in 1993.

During our association I related to Prof. Nazarov the story of my deteriorating vision, and since he knew an ophthalmologist who used BMS on eye conditions similar to mine with great success, he brought the BMS machines to my home for a treatment. I must admit I was skeptical since this was not traditional medicine and doctors had told me there was no hope. A turning point in my life was soon to arrive. As I was waiting for one of my treatment sessions in the first German BMS Center in Bad Kissingen, I overheard another client, a physician with a similar eye condition to mine exclaim after a 30 minute session, "now everything becomes brighter." This statement was an emotional realization for me, for his words expressed exactly what I had experienced after my own first treatments. This repetition of my own experience confirmed to me that the treatment was working and that the prognoses by respected medical specialists were not final because BMS existed. At this moment, I decided to devote my life to BMS to be able to help others as I was helped.

Introducing the Machines and the Start of Optimal Life GmbH
During one of Professor Nazarov's visits, a newspaper arranged to interview both of us. The resulting published article had such an impact on readers that patients and medical professionals began contacting me to learn more about BMS. I referred these people to the first BMS centers in Germany, staffed by a doctor and a physiotherapist. Those individuals who were interested in the machines themselves, I referred to the importer of the Russian machines. As I continued to refer customers to the importer, he made an offer to me - the exclusive distributorship rights for the Russian equipment in Germany. That's when I began Optimal Life GmbH. In one year, Optimal Life GmbH had more than 100 machines sold to a clientele consisting of physicians, physiotherapists, rehabilitation centers, hospitals, and sanatoria. We began with high standards - we provided intensive instruction in theory and training to every medical professional that bought a machine, all of which led totheir success.

Difficulties Along the Way
There were however problems. Russian built machines did not yet fulfill technical standards in Germany or other western countries in regard to quality and service. A solution appeared, when one of my clients, a German prosecutor of State suffering from MS, ( who had experienced great improvement in his condition with the use of BMS ) introduced me to a well-known manufacturer of German medical equipment. Together, we were able to develop new German BMS equipment, which had the same function, but operated more efficiently than the original Russian version. Two Years later, in October 1998, Optimal Life began selling the new high quality German equipment. Since then, Optimal Life has sold to more than 150 clients and has received enthusiastic feedback. Optimal Life is the exclusive worldwide distributor for the BMS equipment.

The Reputation and Acceptance of BMS Grows and Spreads
When I founded the Optimal Life Corporation in 1995, no scientific proof about the effectiveness of BMS was available in the Western World. The Russians had treated BMS like a secret weapon. No one in the western world knew that the Russian cosmonauts' feat of 420 days in space was probably due to the use of BMS. Since then, however, Optimal Life customers, therapists, physicians, etc. have been experiencing for themselves what BMS can do.

The Scleroderma Association in Germany was a pioneer in choosing to fund a study in the use of BMS, despite enormous skepticism by the dermatology department of the University of Tuebingen. However, their study turned out to be so successful that health insurance companies later paid the expenses of the Scleroderma Association members.

Some medical professionals in Germany began to use BMS with success in treating neurological illnesses such as Multiple Sclerosis, stroke, Parkinson's and Muscular Dystrophy and health problems in other medical fields.

Some individual health insurance plans in Germany now cover BMS treatments and in two German states, health insurance for the employees of the state covers BMS.

The Sanatorium Winterstein in Bad Kissingen, along with some other large sanatoria, were successful pioneers with BMS treatments in another realm as well. They overcame a German financial health care crises that had caused many sanatoria to close. Yet, this clinic, which uses more than 10 Sets of BMS equipment, expanded from 200 to 300 beds, bought two additional houses and began development of a second branch in Weimar.

Another Personal Experience with BMS
I had experienced joint problems for more than two years resulting in increased difficulty climbing stairs, kneeling and general joint pain. I realized that lack of exercise might be a partial cause for these problems but I was unable to change my lifestyle to incorporate exercise. My pain intensified and in November I was diagnosed with hip and knee arthrosis. Hoping to avoid surgery, I contacted our most experienced BMS trainer, Mr. Christ, an official therapist of the German Olympic team. After studying my x-rays he believed that BMS treatments would help my condition. He instructed me in certain positions at the BMS machines, and I continued his program for 5 weeks. During the first week, I noticed a significant decrease in pain and swelling at my knees. At the end of 5 weeks, my pain ceased, I could now climb steps and kneel. I know that I might have avoided my arthrosis problems had I begun BMS treatments earlier, but like most people, I found it difficult to take preventive measures not thinking or believing problems would occur. This realization led me to visualize and plan for BMS centers that would function as an aid to both rehabilitation and prevention.

Why is there a Need and Opportunity for Optimal Life Centers?
Today, people all over the world are more health conscious. Optimal Life Centers can contribute to this growing development. Consider the following situations:

A "Sports and Aging" conference was presented by Professor Hollman, Director of the Academy for Sports Medicine in Cologne, a world renowned health specialist and cardiologist, and honorary President for the World Association for Sports Medicine. Professor Hollman described how human beings have changed from muscle beings to mental beings-leaving a need for working the muscles. His studies found that among the over 70, there was an increase of more than 50% in short-term memory after one year of exercising 2-3 times a week for 1-hour (i.e. walking, etc.) Muscles that atrophy through the aging process can be kept functional for a much longer time with regular exercise since it is the explosive strength of muscle that decrease with age, not the muscle function. Resulting from his studies, the World Association for Sports Medicine developed the "Declaration of Cologne" in which governments are asked to provide opportunities for exercise to the general population to prevent "civilization illness" (cardiovascular diseases, and other stress related illnesses, back-, muscle- and joint problems, etc.). The Declaration of Cologne has been presented to more than 150 governments worldwide. Optimal Life Centers could make a significant contribution to this endeavour.

The over 50 generation of baby boomers are ready to invest in their health to prevent and avoid paying for ill health later on. Optimal Life Centers are an aid to prevention.

A number of patients who have had successful treatments with BMS in rehab centers and sanatoria, bought BMS equipment for their home use rather than continue with expensive in-patient treatments. They received private training sessions by Optimal Life trainers. This clientele represents now 20% of the Optimal Life clientele and the number can increase.
One Optimal Life customer (a physiotherapist) has opened a sauna center in Germany where he offers BMS as part of a successful holistic health treatment facility. More Optimal Life Centers could offer treatments as part of a holistic experience.

People may be aware that they are neglecting their bodies, but they don't have the willpower or the time to change their life style. Very often those who need exercise the most to stay healthy don't or can't make the time for it. Because BMS requires a minimum of time to reap its benefits, Optimal Life Centers would be a boon for individuals with limited time.

The elderly are often unable to exercise as much as they should. Muscles, which receive less and less exercise, degenerate. Because Optimal Life Centers offer exercise through BMS that requires little stress on the elderly, including those who are bed ridden, this population could also be helped.

Lack of motivation prevents people from exercising. Tremendous willpower is required to perform tiring exercises regularly by oneself. In The Optimal Life Center clients could exercise as part of a group, where motivation is interactive, and healthy competition can develop.

The goal of the Optimal Life Center is enjoyable rather than strenuous exercising in a supportive, encouraging environment.

Simplified explanation of the BMS Theory
BMS was used scientifically for more than 20 years as a secret weapon of Russian Olympic champions as well as cosmonauts who stayed 420 days in space compared to the 120 days of our western astronauts.

How Nature works.
Muscles vibrate with different frequencies. At the peak of muscle activity, a regular muscle vibration becomes a regular sinus curve for a few seconds and is referred to as an activity tremor. This so-called activity tremor, (the trembling of the muscles at its highest point) is the visible form of the blood pump function of the muscles. The vessels in the muscles contain valves like the heart itself, which guarantee blood flow in one direction. When a muscle is contracted the blood is pressed from the arterial into the venous system, and when the muscle relaxes, a vacuum sucks the blood from the arterial system into the vacuum. The heart would have to be 25 times larger than it is to pump blood through the body by itself. That's why healthy muscles are necessary to support the heart function. With BMS, the activity tremor promotes a maximum blood circulation which leads to an accelerated metabolism, to optimizing the provision of oxygen and nutrition to the muscles. As a result muscles are developed and strengthened.

The promotion and intensifying of natural processes also benefits the body in another way. Our lifestyles result in increased inactivity., resulting in slower circulation of body fluids and a build up of deposits. Under BMS stimulation these deposits are dissolved and flushed out through the lymphatic system. During this process the walls of the vessels and other tissues are strengthened. In my seminars I use the example of a car on a highway, driving for hours at high speed and benefiting from a more quiet and smooth ride.

BMS imitates nature in time lapse. The BMS device imitates the body's muscle frequency and amplitude-- the up and down motion of the muscle during its activity tremor. BMS differs from other vibrating stimulators in that the activity tremor is achieved on tensed and/or stretched muscles like in a natural exercise. When BMS is applied for minutes it represents a series of activity tremors - the BMS time lapse function. BMS can also be applied on muscles that cannot be self-activated.

Conventional Training Versus BMS

The peak of a muscle's work, the activity tremor, can be reached only for a few seconds in sports or exercise following a lengthy enough warm up. For a person to reach this peak requires willpower with hours of training, which can be stressful to the circulatory and nervous system.

Advantages of BMS
BMS is a pure mechanical application. No electricity or chemicals invade the body. This intensive muscle activity doesn't require willpower. The circulatory and nervous systems are less stressed than with natural exercise. The highly desired activity tremor, the maximum blood pump function of the muscles, is achieved more frequently. With BMS the muscle experiences an additional series of activity tremors. This is why the impressive results from BMS are fast as compared to traditional therapy and training.

BMS Applications optimize Nature
Blood circulation is improved, metabolism is accelerated, and toxins and dead tissue are more effectively dissolved and flushed out through the lymphatic system. The body is stimulated to produce new healthy tissue. A positive side effect is a lowering of the cholesterol level as the body is using the cholesterol, which is stored in the liver for the production of new tissue. BMS applications promote joint mobility, muscle strength, muscle growth and coordination. The coordination of the central and peripheral nervous system is intensified. Speedy and long lasting pain relief are also achieved. Through a sort of inner regeneration, BMS creates an impressive outer cosmetic effect - skin in problem areas becomes firm and taut.

Success and Approval of BMS in the Medical and Sports Fields
Attached to this document is an Optimal Life BMS Brochure, which contains summaries of published studies. There is however a new experiment, not yet published, in the field of spinal injuries and paralysis. Some of our therapists have special experience in these areas and at a user meeting in December 1999 reports were given, showing impressive results with patients who had gone through every available treatment unsuccessfully. Based on these results a well-known hospital that deals with employment related injuries now sends patients on a regular basis to these therapists and we expect to gain more positive results in the near future. We believe that it is the time-lapse function of BMS, that explains these successes. In the case of partial paralysis the nerve connections can be so weak that with conventional therapy they will continue to wither and die. With the intensive BMS stimulation, there is more or better chance that the nerve connection can grow again and take over functions of the destroyed nerves.

At this juncture I want to summarize the revolutionary potential of BMS for the future in the field of prevention. It is the time-lapse function of BMS. The activity tremor, which is produced for only a few seconds in a natural setting, after a long warm up time - the most intensive blood-pump function - is activated by BMS to the muscle for several minutes.

Our experience has taught us that the optimal BMS application duration is 2-3 minutes per muscle. . Treating the whole body, we are able to apply it on muscles, which in a natural setting cannot be influenced by will. Such total body treatment is shown in the Basic Exercises (see Optimal Life Brochure), which take 30 minutes to an hour. It achieves the results of hours of training. Nazarov speaks about a 10 to 100 times faster results than regular exercise can provide. The summary of a study, performed at the faculty of sports medicine (Prof. Schmidtbleicher) at the University of Frankfurt a. M., reports 20% - 30% faster results, compared to conventional settings. Meanwhile 25% of the German Olympic Training Centers are using Optimal Life BMS equipment. It has been our experience that after a series of 10-15 BMS applications (the necessary amount depends on the basic health situation of the client) the body's own abilities are maximized. With applications of 3-4 times per week one can reach this goal after approximately 4 weeks, Pauses of 3 days between the series are part of the BMS concept to enable the body to rest after intensive stimulation.

As a result of BMS application people experience a feeling of lightness in the muscles, a certain euphoria, and a desire to use the muscles. Every sportsman and jogger, knows this feeling induced by a rush of endorphins. A therapist even reports that he is successfully treating depressions with BMS based on this experience.

The Optimal Life Center Concept
In our Optimal Life Centers, experienced BMS trainers offer to their clients a package of 10-15 BMS applications and intensive information about BMS. During these 10-15 applications, the customer is also trained in the use of the BMS equipment. After approximately 4 weeks the client will enjoy a sustained level of success which he probably wants to maintain. To enable a client with a limited income to reasonable maintenance, Optimal Life Centers will offer different activities, which are enjoyable and can be practiced in groups. We don't want to cause any pressure and stress. As a psychotherapist, I want to place major attention on this aspect of the Optimal Life Center offer. I imagine for instance a row of up to 10 BMS machines, with large and clear instructions posted next to each machine. Experienced BMS users can maintain their BMS successes by becoming members of Optimal Life BMS Clubs after buying a membership. This would guarantee a regular income to the BMS trainer and a relatively inexpensive method of health maintenance. In groups up to 10 people, interesting group dynamics can be developed during the time of BMS maintenance applications. A BMS trainer who can correct the positioning of the client if necessary, should always supervise these group sessions, which is an important requirement for the optimal success of the BMS applications. I also visualize TV screens offering either information upon request of the client or entertainment as desired.

Optimal Life Centers could extend their reach by offering assistance in the field of nutrition and vitamins. The above-described detoxifying effect of BMS applications enables the body to better use high quality nutrition. The inventor of a famous nutritional supplement in arthritis pain and degenerative joint illnesses (Inholtra), which is a bestseller in the United States, has experienced BMS himself. It is his opinion that the combination of BMS and Inholtra results in an optimization of the success of both.

Returning to our intention to offer fun exercises, we can add music to group exercises. This will adress in a holistic way the needs of human beings. We think about aerobic groups, dancing, line dances, jazz dance without limiting the creativity of the BMS center owners or management. In the area of hydrotherapy, we think about water aerobics as well as other activities to satisfy the desire for movement after receiving BMS applications.

Where Should BMS Centers Be Installed?
Many physiotherapy centers also here in the U.S, which have financial problems related to health insurance, could start Optimal Life Centers to generate additional income from private clients. Optimal Life Centers also could be set up in large fitness centers and fitness center chains as an independent unit of the fitness center-as long as Optimal Life trained professionals will supervise their unit. Optimal Life Centers could also be operated in large hotel, convention centers and sports clubs i.e. tennis, golf, football. Basically we can say we think about Optimal Life Centers in areas, where people stay for longer terms and where they want to improve their health and fitness, or where people are forced to be immobile for longer periods of time such as at conventions.

Mini Optimal Life Centers
These include the main machine, the Joushka or Taurus, that don't require more space than 2-3 square yards, a sort of cabin with enough space to perform the basic exercises. They can be installed where people lack mobility and spent time such as trains, airplanes, railway stations, airports, in highway rest stations etc.…that's where you can see more and more people with swollen joints and other symptoms, the effects of immobility.

Mobile Optimal Life Centers
In this century of the service industry, a mobile Optimal Life Center could be another service alternative. A van in which one or several BMS machines are installed could go directly to the customer to offer its services. Potential customers would be nursing homes, hotels, large companies, factories, sports clubs, etc. Decision makers of those organizations should be offered a free BMS series to experience themselves the benefits of BMS. The success of the BMS application will motivate the decision makers to find ways to make BMS available to their institution. In Germany more than 900 massage therapists are without work. These professionals have the best professional qualifications and experience for BMS training since BMS is not a pure application of machine but a synergy of "hand and machine application". Mobile Optimal Life Centers could also replace or open the door for the Mini or Optimal Life Centers. A German BMS professional who is applying very successfully BMS in the area of preventive medicine and cosmetics, reports that many customers who first came for cosmetic reasons, to tone and firm skin and tissue, are now coming because they feel so much better in general. They now include BMS before and/or after stressful business situations to improve their general well being. A physician and national chess champion, reported that he is using the so-called BMS head machine, the Multi SL, before he begins a tournament. With BMS he is able to better concentrate and coordinate his thoughts.

Strategies to inform the Public About BMS
Even though BMS has developed a successful reputation in the health and medical fields, the public has little information about it. That's why the Optimal Life Companies have developed strategies to make the public aware of its revolutionary potential. Together with journalists, a file of articles should be developed to be presented to regional and statewide newspapers. In the meantime, Optimal Life is represented on the world wide web at www.optimal-life-bms.de. Optimal Life customers and BMS therapists are offered the opportunity to publish their own website with photos and a description of their institution under the Optimal Life website at no cost. By mouse click a potential interested customer can learn about BMS offers in his own area. Several TV special segments have been shown, giving information about successful BMS applications in the area of medicine. We are trying to acquire the rights to publish these videos on the Internet. Medical professionals don't necessarily think as entrepreneurs. One explanation is that they have been dependent on health insurance for such a long time. Strong laws in Germany don't allow any advertising for medical professionals. That's why Optimal Life takes the responsibility to help customers in different states. We intend to publish a collection of case studies written by therapists and by patients. We also will provide to physicians lists of indications for BMS applications for their prescriptions. By publishing success stories (like the growth and expansion of the sanatorium Winterstein and other rehab institutions), we want to show, that the so-called "dying of clinics and rehab centers" is not a necessary consequence of health insurance problems. This is an example of how our thinking can be changed to assume our own responsibility in preventive health, the biggest market of the 21-st century, as a German study indicates.

Optimal Life is also contacting "self help associations" and health problem groups, who are representing health problems, where BMS can provide enormous help: stroke, scleroderma, arthritis, fibromyalgia, multiple sclerosis, muscle dystrophy, etc, only to address some.

Optimal Life GmbH has developed the "Optimal Life Center" concept as its contribution to a competition, organized by a large health insurance company. The goal of this competition is to find ways to educate people about natural ways to care for their health and to learn to take on the responsibility for preventive health.
