During the later part of 1997, AYUDA had been awarded four (4) Grants in order to help the needy population in the Miami Beach area. These Grants are: "Mind Awake" for at-risk teens, "Early Rise" for child care, "Family Empowerment" for counseling services and "Here for you" for elderly handicapped adults. The "Mind Awake" program is being conducted within the Miami Beach High School in order to benefit the greatest amount of adolescents possible. These teenagers commute into Miami Beach from all areas of Dade County. Family counseling, tutoring and job development as well as teaching the appropriate use of free time are integral parts of this program. With these Grants we will be able to continue the treatments and detection or learing and behavioral difficulties in children and adolesents; counseling for adolesents who had their first encounter with the law, have job seeking bank for those trying to obtain jobs for the first time and obtain housing and medical coverage for homeless individuals. These four grants are funded by Metro Dade County Human Services Department. Thanking you in advance for all your courtesis. Should you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Diana Susi or Carmen Granda at our office number 305 864 2273. |
